Camphor Aroma (樟香, zhāngxiāng) is a distinctive flavor note found in certain aged and wild ancient tree black teas from the [Shaoguan](https://shaoguantea.com/glossary/shaoguan/) region. It presents as a cooling, camphor-like fragrance with woody undertones, similar to the scent of camphor laurel trees that grow in [Luokeng](https://shaoguantea.com/glossary/luokeng/)’s ancient forests.
Camphor aroma in tea is often associated with wild tea trees growing in forests where camphor trees are present, as the trees absorb aromatic compounds from the surrounding ecosystem over decades of growth.
