Who We Are

We are Shaoguan Tea. Not a trading company. Not a middleman platform. A single, focused brand built on a simple conviction: great tea should be traceable back to the tree it came from. For us, that means one region — Shaoguan, in northern Guangdong, China — and the ancient tea trees that have grown in its Danxia mountains for centuries.

Every tea we offer is named, mapped, and documented. We know which village produced it, what altitude the trees grow at, and what the latest lab report says. Our customers don’t have to trust a brand name — they can verify the facts for themselves.

Why Shaoguan?

Shaoguan is not a name you’ll find in a typical tea catalogue. That’s precisely why it matters.

This is the land of the Danxia — red sandstone peaks sculpted over millions of years into dramatic cliffs and mist-filled valleys. The soil is mineral-rich, the altitude ranges from 500 to 1,200 meters, and the forests that blanket these mountains are home to tea trees that have been growing wild for 200, 500, even 800 years.

These are not plantation teas. They are ancient trees — gushu — that have never known chemical fertilizer or mechanical harvest. Each spring, skilled pickers climb the slopes by hand to gather leaves that carry the essence of this unique terroir.

From Luokeng comes our ancestral black tea — Snow Flower Rock (雪花岩) and Monkey-Picked Red (猴采红), both prized for their rare almond aroma. From Renhua comes a white tea so delicate it was a tribute to Ming emperors. From Lechang, a high-polyphenol white tea with remarkable concentration. Three signature terroirs, one origin — Shaoguan.

Veritea began with a frustration. The best teas in China — the ones that farmers keep for themselves and their families — rarely make it to the international market. What does make it is either mass-produced for volume or shrouded in vague marketing language that tells you nothing about what’s actually in the cup.

We wanted to change that. Not by building a bigger platform, but by starting small: a handful of exceptional teas from a single region, each one backed by data you can verify. No hype. No inflated origin stories. Just good tea, honestly presented.

Shaoguan became our focus because it represents everything the tea world overlooks — ancient trees, unique microclimates, and a tradition of craftsmanship that deserves to be known. We are not here to sell the most tea. We are here to make sure Shaoguan tea is understood, respected, and available to anyone who cares to look.
