Almond Aroma

Flavor & Science

[Almond Aroma](https://shaoguantea.com/glossary/almond-aroma/) (杏仁香, xìngrén xiāng) is a rare natural fragrance found in certain wild ancient tree black teas from [Luokeng](https://shaoguantea.com/glossary/luokeng/). First identified in 2010 by Li Yuming and Chen Dong during a 72-hour search in the Xuehuayan (Snow Flower Rock) area.

The aroma compound is [benzaldehyde](https://shaoguantea.com/glossary/benzaldehyde/), comprising ~40% of the aromatic profile. This is a natural compound — NOT added flavoring — developing from the specific wild cultivar, red sandstone soil, and high-mountain microclimate.
