Nanxiong (南雄市) is a county-level city in northern [Shaoguan](https://shaoguantea.com/glossary/shaoguan/), bordering Jiangxi Province. Historically significant as the 'Southern Tea Corridor' — an ancient tea trade route between Guangdong and Jiangxi along the Meiguan Pass.
Nanxiong produces high-mountain green tea (pan-fried, toasty-nutty flavor) and a distinctive smoked black tea called 'Nanxiong Yanhong,' using traditional pine-wood smoking techniques similar to Zhengshan Xiaozhong. Key tea areas include the Dayu Ridge and Lianhua Mountains.
